Standing Between The People and State Power
Providing a voice for the voiceless, uplifting the downtrodden, offering a hand up to our unhoused, addicted, sick, and suffering Brothers and Sisters.
Standing up against oath breakers and innocence-takers for over 27 years, Thomas has championed causes close to his heart.
In recent years, Thomas has focused on the plight of the unhoused and addicted living among us. Along with fellow members of the Libertarian Party of North Carolina (LPNC) and You Are The Power (YATP), Thomas was on the front lines defending homeless war veteran, Joshua Rorher and his deceased service dog, Sunshine, after they were brutally attacked by Gastonia Police in October of 2021.
While attending rallies and city council meetings on Joshua’s behalf, Thomas met Pastor Moses Colbert, whose homeless ministry, Faith, Hope, and Love Enrichment Ministry, was being harassed by Gastonia City officials. The city threatened to close down his ministry and steal the church property.
A small band of libertarians, anarchists, and otherwise decent defenders of dignity and freedom fought like Hell.
It saved this historic African-American church and its critical homeless ministry.
Protect property rights, cut zoning red tape, welcome commercial growth that expands the tax base, and refuse to make current residents pay for new development through higher taxes.
School choice is the idea that families—not a single assigned-zone monopoly—should decide where and how a child is educated, with public dollars following the student to some degree. For a Libertarian county commissioner in fast-growing Cabarrus, it is both a principle (parents own the decision) and a pressure valve (every student who leaves an overcrowded campus is one fewer desk the county has to bond and build tomorrow).
Hold the line on property taxes. Grow the commercial tax base, cut waste, and refuse to make current residents pay for new growth with higher bills.
